This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Today we will be reading some of the best-known passages in the entire Bible. Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount has been something that Christians have turned to for guidance about how to live a Christian life. One aspect of Christian life that Jesus covers is prayer. He speaks to the people about how you should pray and even offers them the exact words to use: the Lord’s Prayer. He ends this prayer by telling the people that only if they forgive others will they be forgiven. During Lent, we try to turn our hearts back to God and we focus and pray daily asking for God’s forgiveness, but are keeping the same practice in our relationships? Are you actively working in your own heart to forgive those who have wronged you?
