On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem,

and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.

Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. But Saul

began to destroy the church. Going from house to house,

he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison. Acts 8:1-3

The church is in its infancy and it is already facing persecution. Jesus warned his followers that following him would not be easy. And yet, our hearts break as we hear stories and see news headlines that show us the persecution of Jesus’ followers persists. Today, please take time to prayer for our brothers and sisters in Christ who standing tall in their faith, like Stephen and risking their lives to do so.
